Thoughts

I thought this would be a good way to open my blog considering Memorial Day Weekend is just a few days away. Just how many of you really know what Memorial Day is all about? The poem above should be a hint.
These days it seems to be the kickoff to summer, graduations, vacations and the like.  And now, with it just days away, the reeking stench from the VA has cast a shadow over this holiday. And, how we as Americans have allowed our government to treat them as undesirables by withholding care in order to protect the bottom line is also unforgivable.
Our Vets have been denied care that was promised to them when they said, “sleep easy, I’m on that wall and I will keep you safe”. They have become mere names and numbers to a corrupt system that has given more than tacit approval of that which is nothing more than fratricide. The VA has denied and withheld care to our hurt and sick, deciding who will live and who won’t. It has lied to their families and to America. It has cast a stain on America’s honor that won’t easily be removed.
Mr. President, do not feign righteous anger over this. Do not tell me that you just learned of this when you spoke of it as far back as 2008 or did it slip your mind on all your vacations and golf junkets? Do not call yourself their Commander-in-Chief after this betrayal of the very troops that keep us from Harm’s Way.
What you can do, Mr. President is hold someone accountable. By this I mean someone goes to jail, people get fired, and the system is revamped from the top down. I know this won’t happen, as prior scandals have proven. But it’s nice to think that maybe somewhere down the road you discover that Karma can be a bitch.
As a final thought, for any of you that think this is an isolated incident, ponder this: this is the same government that now controls YOUR Healthcare. Kinda frickin’ scarey now, ain’t it?

I been gone a while but this hit me hard and it jump started me back into Stirrin' the Pot.So, look out for further musings, rants and whatever else pops into my head.One favor here, if you like this, please share it with family and friends and do not ever forget these words....
We the People..

POLLS? WE DON'T NEED NO STINKIN' POLLS!

 Rassmussen, Gallup, Zogby, Quinnipiac... OK, show of hands, how may of you are hooked on polls? Bobby, why aren't both your hands up? For those of you who don't know him, my good friend Bobby lives down in Austin or as I like to think of it as Austingrad or San Fran East. He is a rabid Conservative in a sea of Liberalism. He can prolly tell you verbatim what Rush and Sean said on their shows and gives a running annotation to his long suffering wife while he watches Fox news.
 More of Bobby later, back to polls. How many of them them do u actually think they are accurate? Are they informative? Do we need so many of them? Who's paying for them? Which brings me to another question, Why is the main-slime-media putting out so many polls? What do they have to gain? And, being who they are and their reputation, how many of us can believe them?
  Remember when the Gold standard of polls used to be Gallup? Now, these days, there are more polls than Heavyweight Boxing titles. And if you take the time to research their polling data,it's so heavily skewed that it's actually worthless. Cases in point: Reagan was behind right up till he won.
Dukakis was ahead till he lost. Gore had it wrapped up till GW moved to DC[Dems still think he won]. Kerry had the election sewn up according to MSM exit polls. Ooops again.
 I have several theories on media polls, and some are rather convoluted. Here goes:

1. They poll heavily Democrat to skew the poll in order to depress the GOP base so they will give up and stay home. [These folks obviously don't know Bobby and others like him.] They also hope it will cause Republican donors to close their wallets.

2. With polls slanted that way, it is also hoped it will cause some major  Wall Street addresses to figger they have to cover their bases and toss money to Obama. This is a two-edged sword here folks. It might could give them reason to toss even more money to Mitt in order to help him catch up rather than suffer four more years of Obama and his assault on the Free Market.

3. Slanted polls will also give them the reason to file protests and holler recount in some very tight results in several states[Florida springs to mind here].

I do admit to watching and following polls, but only for their entertainment value. Like most Conservatives, the only poll that will count for anything is the one I take part in on Election Day.

Romney and the Conservatives

 I know, I know, Mitt Romney is saying he's a solid Conservative. But stickin' your boots in the oven won't make them biscuits any more than saddlin' a mule will make it a Thoroughbred.

This may seem early in the primaries to make this prediction, but I think he's going to pull it off. Let's be open and up front about this. Santorum and Newt are winning in the states that are so red that they are going into the Republican column regardless of who gets the nomination. Mitt is winning in the swing states which are vital in defeating Obama in November.

 So here is what I think Mitt needs to do to get the base of the party behind him:
  • First off,  he's going to have to pick a strong conservative for his running mate. My suggestion would be one from the one of the states in play such as Marc Rubio or even Rick Santorum. They would add to his bona fides and might even bring those states back to  the Red Column.
  • He's going to have to crush Obama in the debates. He will have to have to present a very clear contrast between himself and the "Anointed One".
  • He will promise to open up ANWR and the Gulf to drilling along with agreeing to let the Keystone XL Pipeline come down from Canada to Texas.
  • Kill Obamacare
  • He's going to have to listen to the Social Conservatives and the Fiscal Conservatives when creating his platform. If he wins, he will have a majority in the House and hopefully, in the Senate. More than likely, he will be picking one, maybe two Justices for the Supreme Court. He will have to stand tall against the threat of a fillibuster and hold out for Contitutionalist Justices.
  • He will have to get the endorsement of the NRA.
  • He will have to simplify his message about his 58(?) Point Plan.
  Now the fly in the buttermilk here, is that he's going to have to do all this and still win over a majority of the Independents from the Obama camp. If Mitt is the right man for the job, I think he will do it. Presisdent Regan did it, so let's see what Mitt can do if he gets the chance. He may not be my first choice for president, but Obama is definitely my last choice!

Things I'll Never Understand

As I've gone thru life, I've always like to slow down and just ponder. Not sure how the stuff pops into head, but once it get's in there, I try to work it out to where it makes sense to me. But, there are a few things and more happening ever day that just  make no sense and I don't think I'll ever understand them, such as:

  • A dog will stick his head out a truck window when you're going down the highway and just enjoy the crap out of it, but if you blow in that same dog's face; it'll flap its head and maybe even snarl some.
  • Why some women who are "pro-choice" can't understand why there mothers aren't (My guess is they didn't pay attention in Health Class).
  •  Okay, a double ponder here. How some people can be ''pro-choice'' and ''anti-death penalty is beyond me. It's okay to kill an unborn child, but wrong to execute a convicted killer?  I mean they worry about a murderer's possible innocence while never thinking about the innocence of a baby?
  • How you can pack 50 head of cattle in a 10x10 foot five strand barb wire pen and not one of them will  get cut, yet toss a six inch piece of the same wire in the middle of a pasture and a horse will cut himself to pieces on it?
  • How you can be against something you helped to implement?
  • When did it become okay not to have losers anymore?
  • Why is the food that is so unhealthy,  taste so good?
  • Why is kiddie soccer even considered a sport?
  • How does three cans of beer turn into a six pack's worth of pee?
  • Why a young person today that graduates from college with a bachelor's degree in philosophy or ancient art forms thinks they are going to land a job that pays 100k a year?
  • Why women think denim causes instant weight gain on their posterior?
  • Why Obama apologizes to our enemies who hate us and want to destroy us, yet craps down the well of our friends?(I cleaned that up a little)
  • Why some people think it would be too hard to round up the illegals in this country? Well, we could start in the jails, and go to the addresses they used to get a driver's licence for a start.
  • How in the world did we let Obama become President?
  • Lastly, How can anybody in their right mind vote for him again?

Who's My Candidate?

  I've been following the debates, listening to the candidates and watching the ads and have yet to really pick one I can truly rally to. It seems they all have these big ideas and the same answer to all our problems: " When elected, I will enact programs to solve those problems."

  I guess my problem is that I don't want a candidate with big and grand ideas. I'm waiting for one with small ideas. I want one who will say, " I don't think big; I think small. Such as smaller government, smaller taxes, less interference in your lives, and smaller budgets."

  The government is bloated and unwieldy as it is and more programs will grind our ecconmy to a halt. Between the banking regulations that have crippled the housing industry, a tax code that even lawyers can't comprehend, ag regulations that prevent farmers from raising the crops that could feed most of the planet to strangling regulations on our enegery providers that force us to pay higher costs,the government is collapsing under its own weight(I'm not even going to go into Obama-Care).

 The country has had enough of grandiose schemes, ideas and programs. We need small ideas, and it will take a "Big Man/Woman" with matching cojones/ huevos to be willing to run on a ''small'' platform.

As Ronald Reagan so aptly stated, "Government isn't the solution to our problems;it's the cause".

Intolerant Tolerance

I thought the Democrats were the sensitive caring huggy- feely party that accepted all kinds of folks into their tent? I guess it’s true, for along with about every nut job with a gripe, they have racists, bigots, extremists, Marxists and I guess about everything on the left side of the political spectrum.

I have always thought of free speech as a given, but to some on the left, you’re only free to speak if you mouth their platitudes and march in lock-step with them.

Here are just a few examples:

·        The right to choose: This is only a right if you choose abortion. I thought being Pro Choice you meant you had a right to choose. Wrong, it means you need to abort a baby rather keeping it or putting it up for adoption.

·        Free Speech: Seems like Liberals can say anything they please, but let a Conservative say something they don’t like, such as the truth or the facts, they tend to become very agitated and resort to lines such as “Bush Lied” and “Halliburton caused 9-11”.

·        They say we must be tolerant of Islam, yet wage an unending war against Christianity and Judaism.

·        They call the TEA Party Racists, despite the fact one of the founders is Black and Herman Cain is running as a strong contender for President. And , as a closing thought on this subject, Robert Byrd.

·        They march for women’s rights here, yet are strangely quiet about the savage abuses heaped upon women in the Arab States.

·        Everyone has a right to work; as long as you belong to a union.

·        Try finding work in Hollywood or as a journalist if you are open about your Conservatism.

These are just a few examples of a group of people that have espoused tolerance and understanding yet by their very actions, have shown themselves to some of the most intolerant people you will ever meet. Actions will always speak louder  than  words.

Stickin' Your Boots in the Oven....

  Howdy, I've been listenin' to His Royal Majesty a lot this week and he seems to be saying the same things over and over. So, I thought I might see if I can respond to what he's been sayin using expressions I've heard and read my whole life from people who make a lot more sense than him. Let's see how this goes.. (Obama will be in the quotation marks and my response will be in Italics)

"We need to spend more, invest more to create jobs. This next  Stimulus will work"
When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging!

"I have always believed that taxes on the middle class are too high"
Wearin a hat and boots don't make you a cowboy!

"The Government must be in partnership with business!"
A real cowboy saddles his own horse and kills his own snakes.

"Investing in America doesn't mean higher taxes."
Sticking your boots in the oven won't make them biscuits!

"America will no longer be the guiding force in the World"
"You won't break your horse a-sittin on the fence.

"We must pass this jobs bill now; and after we do, I'll explain how we pay for it."
When dealing with lawyers and bankers, always bring a magnifying glass to read the fine
print before signing papers!

"This next bill is what Americans' need to help recover from the Bush years."
If you can't do it with a little, you can't do it with a lot..

"I inherited this ecconomy from my predecessor."
Rodeoin' has always been about the draw.. You take what you get and how well you perform is up to you.

Well, those are my thoughts on our President. I've quoted and paraphrased a lot of them and if you're well read in cowboy literature, you might recognize some of them... but I learned a lot from them, 'specially that old rancher that took a 12 year old boy and showed him what cowboys do and are... he didn't talk much but his actions spoke volumes. Too bad Obama never got a chance to hear him.  He might not have wound up as a Post Turtle and things might be a lot better today.

Happy Birthday, Dutch!



   Today, Ronald Reagan is 100 years old. I say is, rather than would have been because his indominable spirit,patriotism and of the changes that he effected; he will be with us forever. I could go on but I think I'll let him say a few things and let y'all think back on how much of an impact he made with his words and actions.




A people free to choose will always choose peace.



Above all, we must realize that no arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women. It is a weapon our adversaries in today's world do not have.



Approximately 80% of our air pollution stems from hydrocarbons released by vegetation, so let's not go overboard in setting and enforcing tough emission standards from man-made sources.



Before I refuse to take your questions, I have an opening statement.
But there are advantages to being elected President. The day after I was elected, I had my high school grades classified Top Secret.



Concentrated power has always been the enemy of liberty. Entrepreneurs and their small enterprises are responsible for almost all the economic growth in the United States.
Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same



Freedom prospers when religion is vibrant and the rule of law under God is acknowledged.


Government always finds a need for whatever money it gets.


Government does not solve problems; it subsidizes them.


Government exists to protect us from each other. Where government has gone beyond its limits is in deciding to protect us from ourselvesGovernment is like a baby. An alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other.

Government's first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives.

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

Governments tend not to solve problems, only rearrange them.



It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. I have learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first.


I've never been able to understand why a Republican contributor is a 'fat cat' and a Democratic contributor of the same amount of money is a 'public-spirited philanthropist'.


If we ever forget that we are One Nation Under God, then we will be a nation gone under.


Republicans believe every day is the Fourth of July, but the democrats believe every day is April 15.
The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help.
We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.



When you can't make them see the light, make them feel the heat.
There are no easy answers' but there are simple answers. We must have the courage to do what we know is morally right


We will always remember. We will always be proud.  We will always be prepared, so we will always be free.


Let us be sure that those who come after will say of us in our time, that in our time we did everything that could be done. We finished the race; we kept them free; we kept the faith.
