You know, after wating the new version of True Grit, I got to pondering on just how many actors and actresses you never would have dreamed of actually have been in a Western. I don't mean as a bit character or in a parody, but in a major role in a movie. this only reaffirms my belief that there is a little bit of cowboy in all of us.See what you think and feel free to add to the list.
- Marylin Monroe - River of No Return.
- James Cagney and Humphrey Bogart - The Oklahoma Kid. Okay this was just the Roaring Twenties out west but it still qualifies.
- Kevin Kline and Jeff Golblum - Silverado. The western version of the Big Chill
- Fred Astaire? Yes it's true and I'm going to let y'all research to figger out the title.
- Tony Curtis
- Doris Day
- Natalie Wood
- Rick Nelson
- Matt Damon - True Grit
- Jayne Mansfield
- Pat O'Brien - Yup, Knute Rockne went western.
- Frank Sinatra - The "Rat Pack" made several westerns.
- Etc.....
I think this this proves my point that there is a little cowboy in all of us. Some of us got to "cowboy" for a while; while still others get to prove everyday that is not what they do but who they are!
God Bless the American Cowboy!
